Introducing...

Another 'introducing' post!

Don't worry, Mum hasn't adopted another one of us (as much as she wishes she could! Dad has said 'NO'!).

Some of you might know that Pirate and Monty are purebred cavaliers. Pirate's mother was too young when he was born to allow the puppies to be registered, but he is a very well bred cavalier. Monty... well, there are a lot of issues surrounding Monty's registration papers, so suffice to say he no longer has any (the legal battle would be too hard, and cost too much). They've both been scanned for about every disease that cavaliers CAN be scanned for!

A couple of months ago, a little girl came to stay with us for a week. Last Sunday, Mum received a phone call that she had to go to see Angel and her humans straight away because she was having puppies!

When Mum got there, she had already had two, and Mum was there to witness (and help with) the birth of four more.

Three healthy boys, and three healthy girls! Angel and her puppies are all doing great!

Daddy + Son, Daddy + Daughter!

Whew! It's been AGES since we've posted anything! Mum has been at uni, and we moved house, so it's taken us a while to get settled in!

Mum got a couple of emails from the owners of Monty's daughter and Pirate's Son, they've all grown up now!

Hiding & Habits

Can't See Me!
We had fun with Mum two nights ago when she was trying to finish a Uni assignment. Pirate was looking for attention, and as Dad was busy playing with Monty and Lucky, he was really trying to get Mum's attention!
Good Hiding Spot, huh?

Unfortunately for Pirate, Mum was VERY busy! So, instead, he started to hide behind the laptop, thinking he could still be close to Mum and she wouldn't even know! (NB. It was past midnight, so Mum was sitting in bed using the laptop so she could just put it on the side table and go to sleep straight away afterwards).

Close Up!
Mum could see him though, and it made her laugh, so she grabbed her camera and took a couple of shots. Pirate then took it that Mum had finished, and came up for cuddles at the same time as Mum tried to take a photo!
I reckon I'm pretty smart!

Monty, on the other hand, was very busy giving Dad a pedicure. We've mentioned before that Monty has a foot-fetish, and now we have photos to back it up. He will (if you let him!) sit for AGES just licking Dad's (or Mum's, or Pop's, or whoevers!) toes!

Do any other doggies out there do this too?

Cuddles on the Couch

Mum and Dad decided it would be fun to sleep on the sofabed in the lounge room tonight, as they were planning on watching movies and stuff, and Mum always seems to fall asleep during movie nights.

They pulled the couch apart (well, that's what it looked like to us!) and set up the sofa bed. Can you guess what we did?

Pirate & Monty stole Mum's spot on the sofa!

Lucky lay down at the end of the sofabed cos he had more room

Pirate is quite pleased with himself!

We're Still Alive!

It's been AGES since we posted, and we'd like to start off by saying that we are all still alive!

Mum has been so busy with work and uni, we hardly get to see her anymore, and when we do, she's always so tired! Our walks have been cut back to twice a week (Mum can't walk all three of us at once, even with a leash divider, and Dad works nights, so there's only a couple of days available for us all to go for a walk together).

This has been Mum's schedule for the last month

Monday: Work 12pm-3pm & 6pm-11pm (we get a walk in the break!)
Tuesday: Uni 9.30am-12.30pm Group Study 1pm-3pm Work 4pm - 10pm (we don't see Mum all day!)
Wednesday: Uni 9.30am-6.30pm (Another day we don't get to see Mum! And she's always really tired afterwards cos she only gets four 15 minute breaks all day!)
Thursday: Uni 9.30am-12.30pm (this is the second day we get walked!)
Friday: Work 12pm-3pm & 6pm-12am (Or 3.30pm-12am)
Saturday: Work 6pm-12am
Sunday: Work 9.30am-5pm

Sometimes, if Mum isn't too tired, we get a third walk on Sunday evening. We hardly get to see her! But, when she's home, we all give her lots of attention, because we know that nothing makes humans feel better than lots of Cavalier hugs and kisses!

We know that we will get to go for another car ride soon though, because winter is coming and Lucky needs a good jacket. Monty and Pirate each have a Weatherbeeta jacket - they're rip proof, water proof, and stain proof. Weatherbeeta are a company that makes horse rugs, and they have a lifetime guarantee (as we are all boys, Mum thought that this was a really good idea!). Pirate and Monty's jackets also came with a free collar and leash last year, so Mum is hoping that the pet store will have the same deal again this year.

We know we are going for a car ride because the pet shop that Mum goes to is dog and kitty friendly! They don't sell pets, although they do have a notice board where people can put up their own ads, or other signs such as Missing posters. The manager there loves us! Last time we went in, he gave us a dried kangaroo tail each, and the time before that, he gave Mum a bag of dried chicken treats for us!

He told Mum that he had a cavalier when he was growing up, and even though he doesn't have one now, Fluppy (his cavalier) is the reason he opened a pet shop in the first place!

Sorry about the HUGE post! Mum has a couple of photos from when we went to the Estuary in January that she wants to put up, because she thinks that a post is worthless without photos!

Monty's Birthday Celebration

Well, it was Monty's birthday yesterday, he turned 21 (or 3 in actual years!). Mum was too tired to put photos up last night because of Uni and Work, but here we are!

Mum decided that we needed Party Hats! (shh! Don't tell Dad, he didn't think that Party Hats were a good idea for us).

It's Monty's Birthday, so he gets the Blue Hat!

Lucky's hat was a little bit big, and it fell off twice before Mum got this photo!

Pirate is a poser! He looks very regal in his hat!

Monty LOVES chocolate, but since it's really not good for dogs, Mum found us some dog-friendly chocolate drops.
Homebrand Choc Drops from Woolworths, $3.29

It was meant to be for dessert, but we got SO excited when we saw the box that Mum relented and gave us one each. She says that the chocolate drops are a very sometimes-food from now on because they do have a fairly high sugar content, but since it's Monty's birthday she said that we can have another one for dessert as well.
Monty was SO excited about the Choc Drops! Look at his tail!
Pirate waited very patiently, but even his tail was a blur!
Lucky was so excited he kept jumping around! This photo was the fifth attempt!

We were VERY well behaved after our chocolate drops! We even sat together for a photo for Mum - this doesn't happen very often!

There's always one in the bunch to make it a comedy shot!

Smiles all round!

Monty's Birthday

It's Monty's Birthday in 3 days time. Mum wants to dress him up with a party hat and get him a special cake, or make him a special cake, but doesn't know what is safe for cavvys. Dad thinks its a silly idea, but Monty LOVES the idea of a cake.

The boys usually get a soft serve icecream from McDonalds for their birthdays, but Mum wants to make this one a special day because it will mean that Monty is now 21 (in dog years), and he has been with us for two years!

Does anyone know of any dog friendly cake recipes, or slices, that Mum can make for Monty? He will share it with Pirate and Lucky of course!

Special Treat!

Mum cooked spaghetti bol for dinner tonight for Dad and herself, but she made a mistake! She cooked WAY too much! We boys like when Mum cooks too much of something, because we sometimes get to help eat it! We don't normally get spaghetti bol though, cos Mum says its too fatty for us (we don't think so!), but because Mum is trying to eat healthy she cooked a special version and left all the good bits out of it.

Pirate's Dinner
Normally, Mum's spaghetti bol has bacon, and red wine, and sugar in it, but this time it didn't. It had lean mince, grated carrot, mushrooms, tomato paste, chopped tomatoes, and a lot of herb-y things that we don't know what they get called.

Lucky's Dinner

Even though us boys get special dog food that comes in a big roll, and we each have special doggy biscuits that suit us (Lucky has Senior Biccies cos he's old, Pirate has Hi-Shine Coat biccies, and Monty has Weight-Management biccies), Mum thought that we might like to have some Mince with our biccies instead of the roll. She thinks that a treat each week for dinner won't hurt us, so long as we don't get TOO much. We wanted the spaghetti as well, but Mum said no because it has flour in it, and flour isn't good for Cavaliers.
Monty's Dinner

Mum took our bowls into the kitchen to serve out our dinner. We went with her to tell her how much we wanted - Mum didn't listen to us, and only gave us a little bit. We wanted our WHOLE BOWL filled up! Mum said 'DEFINITELY NO' because our dinner bowls used to belong to a Rottweiler who lived with our Pop - our Dad's Dad. Mum is going to make us  our very own Spaniel Bowls when she gets back to University, because she doesn't like the ones available in Perth. She says they're ugly.

Lucky was so excited to get his Special Dinner
Lucky got to eat his dinner inside tonight, because Mum didn't trust Monty. Normally, Lucky gets to have his dinner on one of the lounges outside, or in the laundry, but because Monty likes to steal the other boys food (especially when its SPECIAL food!), Dad suggested that Mum give Lucky his dinner inside. He really is Lucky!

Monty tried to keep an eye on the other boys while he was eating
Monty was the first one finished, of course, and he came and stood in the doorway and watched Lucky finish his dinner. Monty HAD to check the bowl when Lucky had finished, just in case Lucky had decided to be really nice and leave some for him. He didn't.

Pirate just wanted to dig in!
Mum also told us to say sorry for not updating for a while - she's been working 6 days a week at work, and hasn't had much time to do anything. We hate it when Mum goes to work - unless Dad is home, it means we have to get locked outside, and we HATE it!

We did get to go to the Estuary the other week, and one of Mum's friends took HEAPS of photos. Mum tried to pick the photos up a heap of times, but her friend always forgot to bring them to work for her. Mum's friend is posting the photos to Mum on a disk, and when they show up Mum is going to do a special post just for them. We'll let you know all about the Estuary in that post.

We're all so full from dinner now, and about to go to sleep. Goodnight, and puppy love from Pirate, Monty, and Lucky!

PS - Thank you for all the lovely comments, and thank you for visiting our blog!
